Søren Brofeldt

Ph.D., University of Copenhagen

 

Søren Brofeldt has a Ph.D., a forestry engineering degree and a master in

Agricultural Development from the University of Copenhagen. He has worked

for the last 10 years in the field of Community Based Forest Monitoring and

Management in multiple countries in South East Asia.

 

Current activities include:

 

  • Research into ethnobotanical tree species identification and forest monitoring for REDD+ with Dayak communities in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, with the Danida funded FFU project.

  • Development of community based monitoring systems of illegal logging activities using smartphones (ICT) in Prey Lang, Central Cambodia.

  • Teaching tropical field work technique and implementation of scientific framework in practice as part of the SLUSE course

  • Reviewer for MDPI on community based monitoring papers.
