CBD Side Event in Montréal

Convention on Biological Diversity COP15 Montréal Side-event: Promoting knowledge and rights of Arctic Indigenous Peoples through Community-Based Monitoring

Arctic Indigenous Peoples live in and observe the Arctic environment year-round. Intimate knowledge of the environment is fundamental to their survival. They frequently depend on natural resources for their livelihood. This event presents a review of the capabilities, good practices, opportunities, and barriers of community-based environmental monitoring programs in the circumpolar region, with a focus on decision-making for resource management. This is a hybrid side-event. It is held Saturday 17 December 2022 at 15:00-17:00 Montreal time (21:00-23:00 CET). The event is organized by: Council of Yukaghirs Elders, Yakutia; CSIPN, Russia; and NORDECO, Denmark. The moderators are Rodion Sulyandziga, CSIPN, and Finn Danielsen, NORDECO. Panelists:
