PISUNA village nominated for Nordic Council Environment Prize 2018

Fishermen in the Attu area on the west coast of Greenland are acting as observers, providing input into research (citizen science and local indigenous knowledge) and suggesting measures to protect nature. The Natural Resource Council is an important example of people assuming responsibility for their local environment and natural resources. Its observations enhance knowledge of the seas, improve management of the marine environment and promote a sense of local ownership of environmental protection. The Council also contributes to a sense of community and greater interaction between citizens and science. See more about the nominated here and a small video here.
