Mapping Community Based Observing

Inuit Circumpolar Council Canada have published the first pan-Arctic review of existing community-based observing efforts. The goal of this review is to better understand the current state of community-based observing systems in this rapidly changing region of the Earth, with a particular interest in observing approaches that are based on indigenous knowledge. Another goal of the review is to make recommendations to SAON (Sustained Arctic Observing Networks) and the Arctic observing community more broadly about how to further support engagement and development of community-based monitoring. Teis Adrian and Finn Danielsen of NORDECO were involved in collecting data and developing the review. The review was undertaken as an official initiative by SAON of Arctic Council.
