Forest communities in Cambodia win international prize


The Prey Lang Community Network (PLCN), working to protect Cambodias Prey Lang forest have won the UNDP Equator Prize 2015 alongside 20 other community based organizations from around the world. The 21 winners was chosen from a field of 1462 nominees, with emphasis on their innovative approaches to protecting their local environments. For the past year the PLCN have been documenting illegal logging and land conversion using a smartphone application developed and implemented in cooperation with NORDECO, as part of the "Prey Lang - It's our forest too" project.
