Michael Køie Poulsen
Social Ecologist, M.Sc. Biology
Michael Køie Poulsen is Senior Consultant at NORDECO. He has twenty-five
years of experience in sustainable natural resources management working with
research and development programmes and projects integrating local develop-
ment and environmental issues and finding positive solutions for people and
nature. Tropical ecology and participatory monitoring and management of
natural resources have his special interest. Key qualifications include:

Integrated natural resources management (incl. CBNRM, biodiversity, tropical forests, non-timber forest products, wildlife, wetlands and Arctic regions)

Protected areas establishment and shared management

Reporting on official development assistance related to the Rio-conventions
-
Climate change adaptation, mitigation (REDD+) and resilience building
-
Environmental impact assessments

Civil society organisations development and capacity building

Environmental awareness raising, training and education
Michael has a background in ornithology as has been involved in discovering and describing bird species new to science.
Michael has been based abroad for extensive periods in Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Tanzania and Ecuador as Chief Technical Advisor or leading research projects.
