Trust Fund for Forestry, Vietnam
2009-05-07The Trust Fund for Forests (TFF) in Vietnam was established in 2004 with funding from bilateral donors (Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland). The TFF is a financing mechanism for pooling donor contributions and ensuring these are used effectively to address sector priorities within agreed policy frameworks, such as the National Forest Development Strategy.
Vietnam’s Trust Fund for Forests provides a grant facility to support pro-poor and sustainable approaches to forest management and a transition towards a comprehensive sector wide approach for development and cooperation in the forest sector.
Nordeco participates in an overall review of the TFF which takes place in May and June 2009. Nordeco will focus on how the TFF may support strategic development of the role of forestry in climate change mitigation and adaptation, by reviewing project proposals, existing reports and by identifying priority areas for support to the National Targeted Programme (NTP) on Climate Change Response and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Action Plan on Climate Change especially related to the priority needs with regard to the National REDD Plan.
