One Planet Future where People live in Harmony with Nature

2009-04-06

WWF Denmark has submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Danida a proposal for a 3-year thematic program called: One Planet Future where People live in Harmony with Nature. The program will have three main intervention areas:

  • Sustainable production, trade and investments
  • Governance and empowerment of civil society
  • Capacity Building

The thematic program will focus on the following geographic areas:

  • Greater Mekong Region (Vietnam and Cambodia)
  • Eastern African Coast and Forest Region (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique)
  • The Coral Triangle Region (mainly the Philippines and Indonesia).

WWF Denmark was established in 1972 and has approximately 27.000 regular contributors. WWF Denmark’s mandate is to ensure nature’s resources as a livelihood foundation for the people who live in, with and of them. The WWF Denmark forms part of the WWF Global Network which is the world’s largest environmental NGO consortium with a total turnover in 2007 of almost USD 800 mill.

NORDECO is contracted by Danida to undertake an appraisal of the proposed thematic program by WWF Denmark and a capacity assessment of the organization. The appraisal includes a mission to Tanzania to discuss the program development process and assess the ongoing project: Community Development and Sustainable Management of Marine Resources in the Mnazi Bay and Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park in Mtwara region in southern Tanzania. The NORDECO assignment takes place in March-April 2009.
