Livelihoods Improvements in the Central Highlands in Vietnam
2011-10-31
Nordeco undertook a mid-term review of the 90 million USD Forest Livelihoods Improvements in the Central Highlands (in Vietnam) project on behalf of the ‘Trust Fund for Forestry’, which funds the Technical Assistance, livelihoods and capacity building components of the project. ADB provides half the finance, through a loan.
The project undertakes plantation of pulpwood on land belonging to households of ethnic minorities or to state forest companies. In order to do so it supports land use planning, land allocation and forest management planning. It also provides credit to households for livelihoods improvements and training in plantation management, household gardens and management of the credit facility.
The project is undertaken in a context of rapidly changing socio-economic development, with a multitude of government development programmes and private investments.
