Food security in Northern Uganda

2008-04-11

In Northern Uganda a bloody civil war has been fought for over 20 years. It has displaced 1.7 million people and forced many children to become soldiers. Now a peace deal is being completed and the people are relocating from major refugee camps to places nearer their original homes or even to their home villages. Government services are almost non-existent and agricultural land has to be reclaimed from the bush.

Save the Children - Denmark has supported the population, especially the children, in the refugee camps and will now continue the support to vulnerable families with children, who are trying to regain productive livelihoods in farming or in other walks of life.

Nordeco provides a team leader to a review cum appraisal for the project, which provides this support through Save the Children - Uganda.
