Community based monitoring in Sabah, Malaysia

2009-04-27

At present there is collaboration between Jalinan Orang Asal Sedunia (JOAS), Partners of Community Organisations (PACOS) and NORDECO on developing a community based biodiversity monitoring system in several protected areas in Sabah, Malaysia. NORDECO assists with the development of a manual for the Community Biodiversity Monitoring System and conducts training of monitoring groups and other relevant stakeholders. The community based monitoring system will operate in sites of the Project: “Promoting Collaborative Management of Protected Areas: Biodiversity Conservation that Involves Indigenous Peoples” project (aka Biodiversity Conservation that involves Indigenous Peoples) under the programme DANIDA-MENGO Community Based Natural Resource Management Facility. The following photos are from the first training sessions. For more information please contact Michael Køie Poulsen mkp@nordeco.dk
