Appraisal of Caritas' ‘Voices for Change in Rural Africa'

2011-07-26

Nordeco undertakes an appraisal of a proposal from Caritas Denmark (CD), to Danida, under the strategy for Civil Society Development. The proposal is named ‘Voices for Change in Rural Africa’. It aims at empowerment of civil society of small-scale subsistence farming households and NGOs supporting this in equal partnerships with CD. The aim of CD’s interventions is both to improve agricultural production, marketing and income and to help establish legitimate civil society organisations in rural areas, combining livelihoods improvements with increased participation in governance.  The proposal aims at taking CD’s programme approach a step further by coordinating and integrating activities in Uganda, Niger and Zimbabwe into one programme with one funding mechanism.
