Steffen Johnsen is a senior consultant in Nordeco with 20 years of experience in natural resources and environmental management with a certain focus on sustainable agriculture, climate change and food security. His experiences include:
- Natural resource management, in communities and in decentralised government
- Small-holder sustainable agriculture
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation, as related to NRM
- Organisations of rural people and strategic development of rural civil society
- Food security programmes
- Integrated Pest Management
- Biodiversity management
- Institutional transformation in NRM institutions
- Management information systems and monitoring
Dr. Johnsen has worked extensively with programme and project preparation, implementation and monitoring, review and evaluation and as a project manager with responsibility for quality-assurance, backstopping and contract administration. He has been responsible for management, training and capacity building of local staff.
He has extensive experience from South-East and South Asia, Africa and Central America. Educated in environmental biology (M.Sc.) and applied systems analysis (Ph.D).
