Rural development

Nordeco works in the field of rural development from an evidence-based conviction that best results are obtained when people are empowered to manage their own development.

We have experience with groups doing small-holder agriculture and natural resources management in many key ecosystems, with savings/credit, SME development and focus on poorest groups and on gender-balanced development. We have also worked on these issues from food security and disaster preparedness perspectives.

Our consultants have working experiences in all relevant sociological and NRM methods at community level, from long-term assignments in communities in different parts of the World.

While our focus is at the local level, we have frequently applied this focus in working with decentralised governance and in programmes at regional or national levels and conducted thematic research related to rural development.
